<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer system attributing to power savings within a single device or multiple devices by realizing power consumption corresponding to the traffic volume received from each input line in a packet transfer device using a distributed architecture. <P>SOLUTION: In the packet transfer device using a distributed architecture, when packet inputs into a line card are few, search processing of a destination line card to be carried out on the receiving side of the line card is performed by another line card instead.
