<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve safety of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery at a high temperature. <P>SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolyte including a nonaqueous solvent and an electrolyte salt. In the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, an air permeability of the separator is 500 sec/100 ml or less at 100°C and 1000 sec/100 ml or more at 120°C. The nonaqueous electrolyte includes a dinitrile compound shown with the following formula 1 with 0.3 mass% or more to the nonaqueous electrolyte and/or a fluoroethylene carbonate compound with 3 vol.% or more to the nonaqueous solvent at 25°C and 1 atmosphere.
