<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal and a control method of the same for preventing a true personal identification number being acquired by a third party. <P>SOLUTION: A present invention relates to a portable information terminal having a key input unit 1, a control unit 2 and a sound output unit 3. A key of the key input unit 1 is depressed by a user. The sound output unit 3 converts an input signal to a voice. The control unit 2 selects a DTMF sound according to the depressed key and outputs a signal corresponding to the selected DTMF sound to the sound output unit 3. The control unit 2 selects the DTMF sound associated with the depressed key in specification when an input of a personal identification number is not requested.
