<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure and a method for reinforcing an existing junction structure having a rib plate, the structure and method capable of preventing occurrence of a structural defect, increasing resilience and fatigue strength, and improving workability. <P>SOLUTION: In an existing junction structure 1 having a first structural member 11 used as column or beam, a second structural member 13 joined to an edge 11a of the first structural member 11, and rib plates 21 for stiffening the aforementioned members, a reinforcement member 31 is joined along the side of the first structural member 11 so as to surround a welded joining part 22 of a rib plate edge 21a, the welded joining part 22 that is positioned away from the second structural member 13, and the reinforcement member 31 is joined to the rib plate 21. Therefore, stress concentration at the welded joining part of the edge 21a of the rib plate 21 is thereby relaxed, enabling suppression of local stress concentration and an increase in resilience and fatigue strength of the existing junction structure 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
