<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mix air and fuel more uniformly. <P>SOLUTION: As for a mixing tube design (28) and fuel nozzle (25), each of a plurality of mixing tubes (28) comprises a pair of concentric hollow cylinders (51, 52) that defines a ring-like, annular path for the flow of fuel between the two hollow cylinders (51, 52) in each mixing tube (28), air injection slots (27) formed in the concentric hollow cylinders (51, 52) and defining corresponding air flow paths from the outside of each mixing tube (28) into the interior of each mixing tube (28), and one or more fuel injection ports (55A, 55B, 56A, 56B, 57A, 57B) formed in selected ones of the plurality of air injection slots (27) that allow for the flow of fuel from the annular path formed by the hollow cylinders (51, 52) into the air flow path, resulting in better mixing and improved thermodynamic behavior of the fuel and air mixture downstream of the nozzle (25) and upstream of the combustor (21). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
