Disclosed is a recombinant bilirubin oxidase production method that includes a step wherein bilirubin oxidase genes from an incomplete filamentous bacteria Myrothecium verrucaria is introduced to E. coli and expressed. Also disclosed is a recombinant bilirubin oxidase obtained by this production method. This recombinant bilirubin oxidase has greater enzymatic activity than naturally occurring bilirubin oxidase from incomplete filamentous bacteria Myrothecium verrucaria.
