<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that forms an image in such a manner that a recording liquid is applied to an intermediate transfer unit by means of a head which suppresses bleeding even without applying a treatment liquid or powders other than the recording liquid while securing the ejection performance of the recording liquid from the head, and to provide a method of forming an image by using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an intermediate transfer unit 37 which has a conductive surface and receives a conductive liquid ejected from nozzles 61a provided on heads 61Y, 61M, 61C, 61BK (hereinafter, referred to as the head 61), a voltage applying means 33 which applies a voltage across the intermediate transfer unit 37 and the head 61 in order to electrolyze the conductive recording liquid which is ejected from the head 61 and is in a state of bridging over the gap between the head 61 and the intermediate transfer unit 37, a detecting means 33b which detects a current flowing in the conductive recording liquid in such a state, and a control means 40 which controls applying of the voltage under a condition that the current is detected by the detecting means 33b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
