<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 4-cycle engine enhancing reliability and durability by achieving reliable lubrication while securing output power, and an engine work machine with the same. <P>SOLUTION: The 4-cycle engine 1 includes: an upper intake path 35 and a lower intake path 36 communicating an intake port 21 and a carburetor 24 with each other; a valve gear case connection path 45 communicating the upper intake path 35 and a valve gear case 50 with each other; a blowby gas discharge path 49 connected to the upper intake path 35 at a side closer to the intake port 21 than the valve gear case connection path 45 and communicating the upper intake path 35 and the valve gear case 50 with each other; a crank case connection path 42 communicating a crank case 40 and the lower intake path 36 with each other; and a breather path communicating the valve gear case 50 and the crank case 40 with each other.
