<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AV device having a sound reproducing feature, which facilitates user operation by letting a transmitting side of electronic device decide whether the AV device is configured not to reproduce any sound or not. <P>SOLUTION: In accordance with an embodiment, an AV device comprises a receiving means, a processing means, a storage means and a control means. The receiving means receives a digital sound signal. The processing means performs a predetermined signal processing for the digital sound signal received with the receiving means. The storage means stores information indicating a signal processing time at the processing means and the processing time value is rewritten to an abnormal value if the sound is set to mute.
