<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time required for face detection which is performed for evaluating each of images consecutively photographed. <P>SOLUTION: Consecutive photographing is performed for detecting an object from smaller number of images than those consecutively photographed among images to be photographed, and a position on an image of the detected object is stored in a position storage portion 204. For each of the images consecutively photographed, a position of an evaluation area of an image which is detected is specified as a same position as the detected object and a position of an evaluation area of an image which is not detected is specified by using a position of one or more stored in the position storage portion 204.
