<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball-type tensioner which reduces flip-flop noises by blocking retracting displacement of a plunger to be applied from a timing chain on starting an engine, and eliminates beat notes by permitting retracting displacement of the plunger generated by excessive chain tension caused by excessive protrusion of the plunger during operation of the engine. <P>SOLUTION: The ball-type tensioner 100 includes a plunger biasing spring 130 for biasing a plunger 120 in the projecting direction with respect to a housing body 110, a ball seat biasing spring 150 for biasing an annular ball seat 140 to be fitted around the plunger 120 in the projecting direction in a front end opening side diameter expanding recess 112a of a plunger sliding hole 112, a ball 160 to be engaged with a rack tooth 121 of the plunger 120 by rolling in a ball guiding inclined groove 143 of the annular ball seat 140, and a sealing plate 170 to be fitted to the plunger 120 by displaceably sealing the ball seat biasing spring 150, the annular ball seat 140 and the ball 160 in the front end opening side diameter expanding recess 112a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
