<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light-emitting element having a high polarization ratio of emitted light and further to provide a polarization display device using the semiconductor light-emitting element. <P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor light-emitting element 200 comprises: a laminated structure 202 that is formed on a substrate 201 and includes a light guide region, in which light having at least two kinds of polarized light is generated; and a stripe shaped waveguide that is disposed on a main surface of the laminated structure 202 and guides light toward a predetermined direction in the light guide region. The laminated structure 202 comprises a slit part 217 that includes at least a part of the light guide region and is formed in a recessed shape at a part of an end surface of the laminated structure 202, which is perpendicular to a light waveguide direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
