<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal device capable of user-friendly photographing. <P>SOLUTION: The terminal device comprises: a face detection unit for detecting the face of a person from images successively generated by photographing; a focusing mechanism for performing focusing for photographing; and a control unit for controlling the focusing mechanism. When the face is detected first after the detection operation by the face detection unit is started, the control unit controls the focusing mechanism to perform focusing. Until the face detection unit comes to not detect the face after the focusing, the control unit controls the focusing mechanism to suppress focusing.
