PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dealing with failures on an optical disk device which is able to perform a normal loading or ejecting operation even when a failure occurs on a switch for generating a control signal for loading or ejecting an optical disk.
SOLUTION: When an optical disk device is manufactured and shipped, the timing of a control signal generated by switches of the device is measured and measurement data is stored in the storage unit of the device. After being shipped, when a failure occurs on the switches and a control signal is not generated, a controlling unit of the device generates the control signal based on timing information stored in the storage unit and controls operations at the time of loading and ejecting. In addition, a process to detect the status of switches is adopted and in the case of a failure on the switches is detected, information on the failure is stored in the storage unit. When a failure occurs on a disk inserting switch or on multiple switches, an optical disk is ejected from a slot and the slot is closed so that an optical disk can not be inserted unless the switches are repaired.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
