<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lens barrel that reduces collapse or deformation of the engagement portions of a cam follower even if great external force is applied thereto during regular photographing use or due to impact or the like, to achieve excellent operation. <P>SOLUTION: The lens barrel includes: a first cylindrical member with a first groove formed therein; a second cylindrical member with a second groove formed therein, which radially fit on the first cylindrical member so as to be rotatable relative to the first cylindrical member; and the cam follower with a first engagement portion engaged with the first groove, and the second engagement portion engaged with the second groove; and a third cylindrical member fixing the cam follower and holding a lens. The third cylindrical member moves in the direction of an optical axis via the cam follower by the relative rotations of the first and second cylindrical members. In the lens barrel, the cam follower has an intermediate portion between the first and second engagement portions in the direction of its axis.
