The wire (7) has an electrical conductor (1) covered with a polyimide layer (2) that directly rests upon the conductor or is connected with the conductor through a glue layer. The conductor is covered with a polyetheretherketone layer (3), where the polyimide layer is arranged between the conductor and the polyetheretherketone layer. The polyimide and polyetheretherketone layers consist of respective foil strips that are wrapped around the conductor such that respective lateral edges (5, 6) of the foil strips are in contact with each other. The glue layer comprises fluorine ethylene polymer. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a wire.
