<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a protection function of a built-in hard disk drive at a more optimum timing, and to improve protection stability of the hard disk drive. <P>SOLUTION: An EC detects, based on, of acceleration values of an x-axis direction and a y-axis direction acquired by a triaxial acceleration sensor, an acceleration value of one axial direction vertical to or most closely vertical to a gravity direction, predetermined motion before vibrations/shocks of a level to be warned against from the standpoint of protecting an HDD are applied to the information processing device. The EC, which has detected the predetermined motion, operates an HDD protection function. Possible application of vibrations/shocks to the information processing device can be detected as early as possible in the previous motion of the information processing device to start head retraction. Thus, the possibility of head retraction to have been completed at the time of actual application of vibrations/shocks to the information processing device 100 can be increased, and a protection function of the HDD 3 can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
