[Class 92 (i)] [Also in Groups X, XXX and XXXIV] A turntable for guns is provided with antifriction rollers mounted on a flange porpendicular to the base and riding on a bearing surface dependent from the table to prevent tilting, and rollers mounted with their axes at right angles to the face of the turntable to resist side thrust. In the form shown, a turntable comprises a base 1 having a central tubular column 2 and a concentric sectional flange 3 at or near its periphery attached by bolts 4. Between the column 2 and flange 3 is a ring member 6 bolted to the base by bolts 5, having formed about its interior two sets of teeth 7 and carrying at its exterior a flange 8 to which is secured the lower race 9 of the usual roller bearing, the rollers 10 of which are carried in a cage 11. The upper race 12 of the roller bearing is secured to the underside of the turntable 15 which is thus freely rotatable. To prevent tilting, the flange 3 is provided with a series of radial holes that receive reduced end parts of cylindrical bearing blocks 14 about which rotate anti-friction rollers 15. These rollers ride on a race on a flange 16 that extends downwardly from a ring 13a arranged round and secured to the turntable 13. The bottom portion 17 of the flange 16 is outwardly directed to serve as a clip which engages the rollers 15 and prevents tilting. A second annular flange 18 depending from the turntable serves to house a roller bearing consisting of rollers 19 with their axes parallel to the column, races 20, 21 and a cage 22. The races and cage rest on a disc 23 secured to the flange 18. The rollers 19 serve as anti-friction rollers to resist side thrust. Movement of the table is effected by driving the shaft 27, thus rotating gear-wheels 26 which engage in the fixed teeth 7. |
