摘要 The present invention proposes a fuel cell, in particular a proton exchange membrane fuel cell, comprising a reactant gas inlet (12), a reactant gas outlet (14) and a plurality of reactant gas flow channels between the reactant gas inlet (12) and the reactant gas outlet (14). According to an important aspect of the invention, the reactant gas flow channels are arranged and configured so as to definea first distribution area (20) connected to the reactant gas inlet (12) for receiving reactant gas; a first reaction zone (16) with a parallel flow field comprising a plurality of straight flow channels (22), the straight flow channels (22) being connected to the first distribution area (20) for receiving reactant gas; a second distribution area (26) connected to the straight flow channels (22) for receiving reactant gas from the straight flow channels (22); a second reaction zone (18) with an interdigitated flow field comprising a plurality of interdigitated flow channels (28), the interdigitated flow channels (28) being connected to the second distribution area (26) for receiving reactant gas; and a third distribution area (32) connected to the interdigitated flow channels (28) for receiving reactant gas from the interdigitated flow channels (28) and for feeding the reactant gas to the reactant gas outlet (14).
