After engaging a parking brake (PB) (3), a check is made on the 'P' position (6) as to whether the PB is actually engaged. If the PB is not engaged, a vehicle remains under controlled immobilization and a driver is informed by an optical and/or acoustic device. If, despite engaging the PB, a power-take-off speed is determined, then a renewed gear meshing process is started. |
