PURPOSE: A method for providing a speech service in a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to enable the blind to easily check the converted speech data with a subtitled image by processing the text data of a specific event with the subtitled image. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer detects the reception of the text data of a specific event when the digital broadcasting is received(S11). The microcomputer processes the text data with the subtitled image through a generator(S12). The microcomputer converts the text data into speech data through a TTS(Text To Speech) converter(S14). The microcomputer controls the output level of a general audio through an A/V processor(S16). The microcomputer synchronizes the subtitled image with the speech data(S17).
