DEVICE FOR IMPLANTING A ROW OF RADIOACTIVE SEEDS AND NON-RADIOACTIVE SPACERS

A device and assembly for implanting radioactive seeds and non-radioactive spacers in a desired configuration in an animal body for effecting radiation therapy is disclosed. An elongated hollow needle is connected to a seed loading apparatus. The hollow needle receives a tube shaped sleeve member with open ends, which sleeve member itself receives a row of seeds and spacers contained within a tube shaped element. After the hollow needle is inserted in the body, a pushing element pushes the tube shaped element including the row of seeds and spacers through and out of the sleeve member and hollow needle towards the desired location in the body.
