<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately sense the output state of an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders in which an output shaft is connected with a rear stage through a twist element. <P>SOLUTION: A resonance influence component Nde(CA) as an influence of resonance based on the twist of the twist element is calculated using the damper rear stage rotation speed Nd(CA) of the rear stage side of a damper and the engine rotation speed Ne(CA) calculated from the motor rotation speeds Nm1(CA) and Nm2(CA) (S110-S140), and the rotation speed for sensing Nj(CA) is calculated by subtracting the resonance influence component Nde(CA) from the engine rotation speeds Ne(CA) (S150). The torque fluctuation σJ30 to represent the dispersion of an engine output is determined from the rotation speed for sensing Nj(CA), and the output state of each cylinder of the engine is sensed using this torque fluctuation σJ30.
