<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure allowing a sealant paste for sealing a cell is easily filled, having good efficiency of manufacture, and having good efficiency of PM combustion. <P>SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure includes a honeycomb block including a honeycomb sintered compact in which a number of cells are arranged side-by-side in a longitudinal direction across cell walls. The cell includes an outer peripheral cell in contact with an outer peripheral wall of the honeycomb sintered compact and a basic cell positioned at the side inner than the outer peripheral cell and formed on the basis of a basic formation pattern.
