<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce time from the moment a operation system of a camera body is operated till a camera system becomes able to take a image stabilized by a camera shake correction effect, by providing means to start center retention control of an interchangeable lens according to the operation of the operation system on the camera body, in a camera system in which the interchangeable lens can be mounted on the camera body and the interchangeable lens communicates each other. <P>SOLUTION: In communication from a camera body to an interchangeable lens, a center retention signal is provided as a dedicated signal. Before a correction start signal is sent to the interchangeable lens after an operation system is operated, the camera body sends the center retention signal to the interchangeable lens and order the start of center retention control.
