<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the redundancy of communication even after failure has occurred by ensuring a stable standby line for a link aggregation group (LAG). <P>SOLUTION: For network repeaters 1 and 2, ports 1a-1f and ports 2a-2f are connected by a plurality of physical lines 4-14. Out of these physical lines, two physical lines 4 and 6 constitute a logically bound LAG 1. Another two physical lines 10 and 12 constitute LAG 2. Physical lines 8 and 14 which do not belong to the LAG 1 and 2 are specified as standby lines. In the event that a failure occurs on the physical line (main line) in one of the LAGs 1 and 2, one of the standby lines is switched to a main line to configure the LAG again.
