<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polybenzamide-b-polystyrene block copolymer by which an object can be obtained by a short step with simple operation while being hardly influenced by steric hindrance. <P>SOLUTION: Chain polycondensation of a compound (2) (wherein R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>denotes an 8-12C alkyl group or a benzyl group which may have a substituent and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>denotes 1-10C alkyl group) is carried out in the presence of a base by using a compound (1) (wherein R denotes a 1-10C alkyl group and R' denotes a protective group of a hydroxyl group) as an initiator to obtain a polybenzamide derivative (A). Successively a product obtained by deprotection of the protective group is brought into reaction with an acid halide to obtain a polybenzamide derivative (B). Atom transfer radical polymerization of styrene is carried out in the presence of a metal catalyst by using the polybenzamide derivative (B) as a microinitiator to produce the polybenzamide-b-polystyrene block copolymer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
