Ophthalmic compositions that comprise 0.1 ppm to 2 ppm of poly(hexamethylene biguanide); and 0.005 wt.% to 0.3 wt.% of a PEG-glycerol ester of general formula I. The invention is also directed to the use of the ophthalmic compositions to clean and disinfect contact lenses, and in particular, soft, silicone hydrogel contact lenses.
