<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which eliminates abnormal sound such as vibration or fluttering sound when feeds the last paper thereby preventing adverse effect of the abnormal sound on image performance. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a paper feed tray 4, a paper feed roller 1 for feeding a sheet from the paper feed tray 4, a push-up plate 5 for lifting the sheet placed in the paper feed tray 4 until the sheet upper surface comes in contact with the paper feed roller 1, a sheet presence/absence detection sensor 10 for detecting presence/absence of the sheet on the push-up plate 5, support means (4a and 5b) for supporting the push-up plate 5 movably in a paper feeding direction, an energizing spring 9 for energizing the push-up plate 5 in an anti-paper feeding direction, and a friction plate 7 disposed in a position where the push-up plate 5 comes in contact with the paper feed roller 1. After detection of no sheet on the push-up plate 5, rotation of the paper feed roller 1 is controlled so as to move the push-up plate 5 in the paper feeding direction by rotating the paper feed roller 1 while the paper feed roller 1 and the friction plate 7 on the push-up plate 5 are abutted on each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
