摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively developing a golf ball by estimating a trajectory of a golf ball formed with a plurality of dimples on its surface without carrying out the test estimation of the real-thing model. <P>SOLUTION: A golf ball trajectory simulation method includes: setting up a golf ball model within a virtual airflow space where a grid has been generated; providing a weight for the ball model and applying shot initial conditions to the ball model so as to cause the model to fly; calculating the lift coefficient and the drag coefficient for the golf ball from the air stream velocity, direction and pressure calculated in each grid cell; and calculating the flight distance and right-to-left dispersion for the golf ball by calculating the change in height, change in lateral direction, change in velocity and change in spin rate for the golf ball for every predetermined minute time period during flight. The trajectory simulation method divides the flight path of the golf ball model into two or three regions based on Reynolds numbers, and sets the minute time period for the every region, thereby shortens a calculation time through reduction in a number of calculation times. Thus, a trajectory of the golf ball shot with an optional initial velocity, an optional number of rotations and an optional angle can be estimated and the calculation time for performing the estimation can be shortened, without the need for using a real-thing model. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
