<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly rigid endoscope having a shank-like middle part and a more degree of freedom in working. <P>SOLUTION: The highly rigid endoscope 1 has a shank-like middle part 8. The endoscope 1 has a handle part 9 which is connected to the middle part 8 at a proximal side and has a distal part 10 having an optics window 14 at a distal part. The handle part 9 is offset or arranged obliquely to the longitudinal axis 13 of the middle part 8, and similarly, the distal part 10 is offset or obliquely arranged to the longitudinal axis 13 of the middle part 8.
