<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that prevents a toner scattering image from being generated on a transfer image due to discharge, prevents an increase in size and cost, and prevents a belt member from having curling tendency even when the apparatus is left unused for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a pressure rotating body 19 that forms a nip N1 where a recording medium is conveyed, in contact with a contact member 12 across a belt member 8; and transfer means that forms an electric field between the contact member 12 and the pressure rotating body 19 to transfer a toner image on the belt member 8 onto the recording medium conveyed to the nip. The image forming apparatus selects either a first state where the belt member 8 is wound on the pressure rotating body 19 by a predetermined winding amount on the upstream of the nip N1 to form a pre-nip W, or a second state where the winding amount in the first state is reduced while the pressure rotating body 19 is in contact with the belt member 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
