<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition exhibiting a shielding effect up to the UV-A region and causing no change along with the lapse of time in light resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The coating composition contains a compound represented by general formula (1) and a binder component. In the formula: R<SP POS="POST">1a</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1b</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1c</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1d</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">1e</SP>independently represent hydrogen atoms, or monovalent substituents excluding hydrogen atoms or hydroxy groups, at least one of the substituents represents a substituent having a positive Hammett σp value; and the substituents may bond to one another to form rings; R<SP POS="POST">1g</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1h</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1i</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1j</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1k</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1m</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1n</SP>, and R<SP POS="POST">1p</SP>independently represent hydrogen atoms or monovalent substituents, and the substituents may bond to one another to form rings. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
