<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of suppressing damage to a block, while suppressing uneven wear of the block. <P>SOLUTION: A groove bottom of a second peripheral direction groove 15 is constituted of a deep groove bottom 15A and a shallow groove bottom 15B shallower in groove depth than the deep groove bottom 15A. The deep groove bottom 15A is constituted to have a groove depth D1 and a groove width W2 on a center land portion 24 side (a side near to tire equatorial plane CL). The shallow groove bottom 15B is constituted to have a groove depth D2 on a first land portion 22 side. A step portion is constituted between the deep groove bottom 15A and the shallow groove bottom 15B.
