<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding die hardly generating crack or clouding in a molded glass, when molding especially lanthanum-based glass, and to provide a method for manufacturing the molding die. <P>SOLUTION: This molding die 10 includes die base materials 21, 31 having forming surfaces 211, 311, and protection films 23, 33 provided on the forming surfaces 211, 311.
