<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire which has enhanced tire strength while manufacturing cost and tire mass are suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: Carcass cords 10 are each composed of two strands 11, 11 made of polyethylene terephthalate fibers twisted together, and the linear density D of the polyethylene terephthalate fibers is ≤2,200 dtex. The linear density D (dtex), the cord count end E (number/5 cm) of the carcass cord 10 per 5 cm width of the carcass ply 6A, a Gurley stiffness B (mN) of the carcass cord 10, and a breaking strength S (N) of the carcass cord 10 satisfy the following equations (1)-(3).
