<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately sort a rod-shaped agricultural product corresponding to a thickness grade without damaging the rod-shaped agricultural product. <P>SOLUTION: A large number of receiving stands 4 for receiving rod-shaped agricultural products such as asparagus A or the like one by one are attached to an endless belt 3 to form a feed passage 5 for moving the receiving stands 4 accompanied by the running of the endless belt 3 and the point of time when the rod-shaped agricultural products start to pass a detection position and the point of time after the completion of the passage of the rod-shaped agricultural products are acquired by a photoelectric sensor 14. The running distance of the endless belt 3 between both points of time is detected by an encoder 15 to measure the thickness of the rod-shaped agricultural products and a plurality of the movable support pieces 10 successively arranged along the feed passage 5 are selectively operated on the basis of the measured value. The receiving stands 4 advancing on the feed passage 5 are supported by the movable support pieces 10 to change over a state holding the rod-shaped agricultural products and a state that the receiving stands 4 lose the support by the movable support pieces 10 to allow the rod-shaped agricultural products to fall accompanied by the downward revolution of the receiving stands 4.
