<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a search time of a channel and reduce power consumed by a search of the channel when positioning by using a wireless LAN. <P>SOLUTION: A positioning device performs positioning operation based on a distance to an access point and includes: an access point detection part which detects the access point; a storage part which stores the detected access point for each channel; a channel setting part which sets a channel to be scanned based on the stored access point; a positioning operation part which performs positioning based on a distance to the detected access point.
