<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform post-injection while suppressing the adhesion of injection fuel to a bore wall. <P>SOLUTION: This control device 100 includes an ECU 1, an EDU 2, a common rail 3, a pressure reducing valve 3a, a supply pump 4, an intake metering valve 4a, a fuel tank 5, a temperature sensor 6, and a fuel injection valve 8 mounted on an engine proper 7. The ECU 1 determines whether the requirements for post-injection are established or not. When determining that the requirements for post-injection are established, the ECU 1 builds up a pressure in the common rail 3 by regulating the intake metering valve 4a to increase the force-feed amount of fuel by the supply pump 4. Then, the ECU opens the pressure reducing valve 3a to discharge the fuel in the common rail 3, and increase the temperature of the fuel by a heat energy converted from the pressure energy.
