<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injector for an internal combustion engine configured to prevent backfire generation reliably without giving rise to any complication in an engine structure, when an inverse rotation is caused in the engine. <P>SOLUTION: An inverse rotation of the engine is determined based on a signal output from a sensor adapted for detecting a rotation state of the engine (hereinafter, referred to as a crank angle sensor).
