<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component having an external electrode which can be formed in a short period of time, and the method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of ceramic layers is laminated to constitute a laminate 12. Inner conductors 18a and 18b which are embedded in the laminate 12 have exposed parts 26a, 26b, 28a, and 28b which are exposed on the outside of the ceramic layers 16 on a top surface S5 or bottom surface S6 of the laminate 12. External electrodes 14a, 14b, 15a, and 15b are formed by plating directly on the top surface S5 or the bottom surface S6 to cover the exposed parts 26a, 26b, 28a, and 28b respectively.
