摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce crosstalk when three-dimensional display is performed without reducing brightness when two-dimensional display is performed. <P>SOLUTION: The video display device includes: a first polarization region 181; a second polarization region 182; and a polarization axis control plate region light shielding part 183 which is a boundary part between the first polarization region 181 and the second polarization region 182, provided in a position corresponding to a video production region light shielding part 163, and shields or transmits incident light in accordance with an application voltage. This device also includes: a polarization axis control plate 180 which emits the incident image light for a right eye and the incident image light for a left eye as linearly polarized light or circularly polarized light; a 2D/3D detection circuit which determines whether the supplied video signal is a two-dimensional image signal or a three-dimensional image signal; and a polymer-dispersed type liquid crystal driving circuit which applies a voltage as such that shields the light to the polarization axis control plate region light shielding part 183 when it is determined that the supplied video signal is the three-dimensional image signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
