<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique effective for discharging debris produced during machining, such as chips and cutting debris, in a rational manner. <P>SOLUTION: A tool holder 100 includes a holder body forming a housing of the tool holder 100, a tool gripping mechanism 120 which grips a tool 200, a first opening 114a to which an air supply source is connected, a lead-out opening 116, air distribution channels 143 and 146 which connect the first opening 114a to the lead-out opening 116 and through which air supplied from the air supply source flows from the first opening 114a to the lead-out opening 116, a contracted channel 152 where the channel sectional areas of the air distribution channels 143 and 146 become relatively smaller, and an air suction channel which connects the contracted channel 152 to a tool front end area B of the tool 200 and through which air in the tool front end area B is sucked into the air distribution channels 143 and 146 by a negative pressure that is created when air flows through the contracted channel 152.
