<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce burdens on a clerk and a customer by preventing a delay in settlement processing due to an error in inputting a commodity code. <P>SOLUTION: A checkout terminal in one embodiment includes: lighting means for lighting a commodity; commodity code detection means for detecting a commodity code of the lighted commodity; a mounting table for placing thereon the commodity whose commodity code is detected; a weighing means for weighing the commodity placed on the mounting table; reading means; determination means; storage control means; and lighting control means. The reading means reads weight information and commodity information of the commodity whose commodity code is detected. The determination means determines whether or not there is sameness between a weight obtained on the basis of weighing result of the commodity whose commodity code is detected, by the weighing means, and a weight indicated by the weight information read by the reading means. The storage control means stores the commodity information read by the reading means when the determination means determines that there is sameness.
