BACKLIGHT DEVICE AND DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device and a display device capable of thinning.

SOLUTION: A display means 60 has a first display region 61 and a second display region 62. A first illumination means 21 emits first illumination light having a first color. A second illumination means 22 emits second illumination light having a second color. A first light guide means 31 guides the first illumination light to the first display region 61 and illuminates the first display region 61 with transmitted light. A second light guide means 32 guides the second illumination light to the second display region 62 and illuminates the second display region 62 with transmitted light. The first light guide means 31 has the first side end face 31b, and the second light guide means 32 has the second side end face 32b opposing to the first side end face 31b. The first side end face 31b and the second side end face 32b totally reflect the first illumination light and the second illumination light.
