<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode fluorescent lamp which can emit appropriate white light and has short afterglow characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: In a cold cathode fluorescent lamp 10, the interior of a glass tube 1 has a phosphor film 2 which is a mixture of three phosphors including a green phosphor, red phosphor and blue phosphor. Specifically, a green phosphor represented by Y<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>S:Tb orGd<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>S:Tb is employed. A red phosphor represented by YVO<SB POS="POST">4</SB>:Eu, Y(PV)O<SB POS="POST">4</SB>:Eu or Y<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>:Eu is employed.
