<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce NOx in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine in which hydrogen and water are used as fuel by suppressing the generation of NOx in the exhaust gas immediately after being discharged from the cylinder combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: Water is continuously jetted from a water injection nozzle into an exhaust manifold just behind the cylinder combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine in which hydrogen and water are used as fuel. The amount of water is changed according the rotational speed and the load of the engine and electronically controlled. In the conventional method of reducing NOx in an internal combustion engine, an NOx reduction device has been installed in the cylinder combustion chamber or the intake manifold. In this method, however, the NOx reduction device is installed in the exhaust manifold to reduce NOx. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
