<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple building demolition method capable of reducing a horizontal force due to an earthquake or the like which has an effect on a building under demolition from a lower layer, is applied thereto. <P>SOLUTION: In a building demolition method for a building 2 that is to be demolished, supporting mechanisms 8 comprising jacks 6 support a lower layer 4 of the building 2, and the building 2 is demolished from the lower layer 4 by repeatedly expanding and contracting the jacks 6. Base isolation devices 10 are included as part of the supporting mechanisms 8 for supporting the building 2.
