The circuit (1) has an inductive load (4) coupled with an electric power source (5). A switchable ohmic resistor (Rx) is arranged parallel to a transistor (2) of an output stage (3). The ohmic resistor is arranged within a housing (7) surrounding the output stage and designed as an electric cable. A pulse operation of the transistor is performed by a pulse-width modulated signal, where an electric starter motor for starting an internal combustion engine is accelerated by the pulse operation. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an electric circuit.
