The main gas bag is connected with a dashboard (D) over an attachment device, where a lower portion of the supporting surface is arranged below the attachment device when the main gas bag is in a complete expanded state. An additional gas bag (22) comprises a protective portion to completely cover a part of the dashboard that is not covered by the main gas bag, such that the additional gas bag additionally has the function of a kneeling and tibia protection device.
